How to Use Sample Settings Page

The Sample Settings Page is a single home for managing your sample approval rules and quotas across all your collaborations. Instead of configuring sample rules separately inside Open Collaboration, Target Collaboration, and campaigns, you now set rules at the product level in one place, and those rules apply everywhere. You can choose how each product's samples get approved, set separate quotas for automated and manual approvals, and see the live status of every sample product at a glance.
2. Product Overview
The Sample Settings Page is for sellers who run sample programs on TikTok Shop and want more granular, consistent control over how sample requests are approved. You manage rules by product, so a rule you set on a product carries across Open Collaboration, Target Collaboration, and other collaboration types instead of living in a single collaboration. Your existing Open Collaboration SKU preferences migrate to this page automatically, so everything you already set up carries over.
What you can do on this page:
- Read your sample rules by product: view a list of your sample products with available inventory, sample status (Live, Disabled, or Paused), SKU preference, approval type, and product-level quota
- Set the approval type per product: Rule Based Auto-Approval, GROI / ROI-based approval (by market), or Manual
- Manage SKUs within a product: set your SKU preference to remove specific SKUs (for example, high-cost variants) from the sample pool, so only the SKUs you choose are eligible for samples
- Set separate quotas: an automated quota for auto-approved samples and a manual quota for samples you review yourself, each customizable or unlimited
- Track quota usage: a quota banner at the top of the page shows samples approved over a time period, broken down by collaboration type and approval type
- See Target Collaboration rules: view how many Target invites are live and how many are auto vs. manually approved, and filter by product and rule
- Search, filter, and paginate: find products by name or ID and filter by category, approval type, or sample status
- Batch edit: select multiple products with a checkbox and apply the same rules across them, including across pages
What hasn't changed:
- Your existing Open Collaboration SKU settings migrate to the Sample Settings Page, so you manage them from the same surface
- Refundable samples stay in Open Collaboration, since they do not apply to other collaboration types
3. How It Works
- From the Affiliate Center home page, open the Sample Settings page.
- Read your product table. Each product shows its available inventory, sample status, SKU preference, approval type, and quota, so you can see your current setup at a glance.
- Edit a product. Select a product to set its approval type (Rule Based Auto-Approval, ROI-based, or Manual) and its quota (a manual quota and an automated quota, each customizable or unlimited). Within Approval settings, you can choose to select Rule based auto approval (bottom left) or Auto-optimize samples (bottom right).
- Manage multiple SKUs under a product. Within a product's edit view, open SKU preference to choose which SKUs are eligible for samples and remove any you want to exclude, such as high-cost variants. Your existing Open Collaboration SKU settings carry over automatically.
- Batch edit if you want to apply the same rules to many products at once; select products with the checkbox, across pages if needed, and apply.
4. Tips
- Set rules at the product level so the same rule applies across all your collaborations, not just one.
- Use the automated quota to cap how many samples get auto-approved. Once it is used up, remaining requests move to manual review, so you stay in control.
- Keep your product-level quota at or above your Open Collaboration quota, since the product quota protects inventory and budget across every collaboration.
- Use batch edit to configure large sets of products quickly instead of editing them one by one.
- Check the sample status column for anything marked Paused. It flags product-level issues such as out of stock, GNE/RCS, or quota so you can fix them before requests fail.

- Do I have to reconfigure my existing sample settings? No. Your Open Collaboration SKU settings migrate to the Sample Settings Page automatically, so your existing setup carries over.
- Where do my product rules apply? At the product level, across all collaborations, so a rule you set applies to Open Collaboration, Target Collaboration, and other collaboration types.
- Can I control samples for individual SKUs under the same product? Yes. Use SKU preference in the product edit view to choose which SKUs are eligible for samples and exclude any you do not want to offer, such as high-cost variants. Your existing Open Collaboration SKU settings carry over automatically.
- What is the difference between the automated and manual quota? The automated quota sets how many samples can be auto-approved. Once it is used, samples move to manual review. The manual quota sets how many samples you can approve yourself.
- What happens to refundable samples? Refundable samples stay in Open Collaboration, since they do not apply to other collaboration types.
- What does a Paused status mean? It means there is a product-level issue such as out of stock, GNE/RCS, or quota, so you can address it directly from the page.
- Where is this feature available? The Sample Settings Page launches globally. The available approval types vary by market: GROI in the US and ROI-based models in JP, SEA, LATAM, EU, and UK.
