TikTok Shop Official Account Rights and Rules Upgrade
What's new?
To comply with the TikTok platform-wide account type policy, effective July 1, 2026, all corporate stores linking a new official account, or relinking an official account after unlinking, must use an Organization Account. This change will only affect sellers who registered as corporate sellers.Who will be affected?
- Corporate Sellers without a linked official account: you can only link an organization account as your official account.
- Corporate Sellers with an existing official account: If your current official account is a personal account, it will remain unaffected for now. However, if you choose to unlink it, you must use an organization account to reconnect.
- Individual sellers: Your current account linking process will NOT be affected.
Options to bind TikTok official accounts
For your security, only the shop owner can link a TikTok account. You can verify if you are logged in as the owner by clicking the Profile icon in the top right corner of the Seller Center.
1) Upgrade your existing personal account to organization account
These are genuinely valuable for you running a real business on TikTok Shop if you upgrade your current TikTok personal account to an organization account:- Followers & content preserved: Your followers, content, and posting history all carry over.
- Company-owned asset: The account belongs to the business. If a team member leaves, the business retains full control.
- Credible identity: Strengthens the account's operational credibility.
- Multi-user operation: Allows multiple users to track and manage the account. Login method changes to OTP via Seller Center.

| Step 4 | If you don't have an established organization TikTok account, a popup will prompt you to upgrade an existing personal account to an organization account. Choose Continue. |  |
| Step 5 | In the TikTok app, scan the QR code using the personal account you want to bind, then follow the prompts to upgrade it to an organization account. |  |

2) Link an existing organization account
If your business already has a TikTok organization account, you can link it directly.Please note:
- An organization account can only be linked to the seller with the same entity qualification.
- An organization account can only be linked to one seller account.

| Step 5 | Alternatively, you can choose to scan the QR code to link another TikTok account. Open the TikTok app with the organization account you want to link, scan the code, and then click Authorize. |  |
| Step 6 | After the TikTok account is successfully linked, the admin account or sub-accounts with these roles — Affiliate Manager or Main Administrator — can obtain the login code for the organization account. |  |
3) Create a brand-new organization account
Create a new TikTok organization account from scratch via Seller Center.- Fresh Start: The new account will begin with zero followers and no content history.
- When to choose this: Select this option if you do not have an existing TikTok account, or if your current account has severe violations that prevent it from being linked.

FAQ
| Q: Can a seller unlink an organization account and relink it to a new shop? | A: Yes, but both the organization account and the new shop must belong to the same legal entity. |
| Q: Can I undo the upgrade if I change my mind? | A: No. The upgrade is permanent and irreversible. Please ensure your entire team is aligned before proceeding. |
| Q: Will upgrading to an organization account change my TikTok username or display name? | A: Linking your official account automatically syncs your TikTok nickname to your Shop Name. Additionally, your organization name will now be visible on your profile as part of your verified business identity. |
| Q: What happens to my store's GMV during the upgrade process? | A: Your store continues operating normally with no interruption to sales or payouts. The main GMV risk is choosing to create a brand-new account instead of upgrading, since starting from zero followers means lower organic content performance in the short term. |
| Q: How do my employees log in after the upgrade? | A: Employees can no longer use a shared password. Each person retrieves a one-time password (OTP) from Seller Center each time they log into the TikTok account. |
| Q: We are a group company with accounts under different legal entities. Can we still link them? | A: Group companies with different legal entities can apply for cross-entity binding via connecting with your account manager. |
| Q: We already have a TikTok organization account from our Ads team. Can we use that? | A: Yes. If your business already has an Ads or GBS organization account, you can link it directly. Check for an existing account before upgrading or creating a new one. |
| Q: What features will I lose by switching to an Organization Account? | A: Organization Accounts cannot access: creator incentive programs; virtual gifting / live tipping (coins); TikTok for Business login; paid brand collaboration tools (TikTok One, Branded Mission); general music library (commercial music only). For most TikTok Shop sellers, none of these affect core selling activities — shoppable videos, LIVE shopping, and product promotions all continue as normal. |
| Q: Can the organization account earn affiliate commission after unlink from TikTok Shop official account? | A: TikTok organization accounts cannot currently earn affiliate commissions. We are actively working to support this feature for accounts with local qualifications in the near future. |
